About this collection

In 1911, the Magnolia Oil Company was established.  In 1925, the Standard Oil Company of New York (Socony Oil) exchanged the majority of its company stock for all the stock of Magnolia Oil Company.  In 1931, the Socony Oil Company merged with Vacuum Oil Company to become Socony-Vacuum Oil Company.  In 1955, the Socony-Vacuum Oil Company was renamed as Socony Mobil Oil Company, and then in 1966, the company changed its name to become Mobil Oil Company.  Since the initial founding of the Magnolia Oil Company, it has operated an oil refinery facility in Beaumont, Texas.  This collection consists of photographs related to the plant equipment, personnel, and events that occurred at this particular oil refinery.
