About this collection

Betty Lamont Leaf was born in 1922 at St. Augustine, Florida.  She and her first husband, Edward J. Maloney, moved to Beaumont in 1959.  He was employed as president of the White House department store.  She later remarried Ralph A. Leaf.  He was employed as general manager of the Bethlehem Steel Company shipyard in Beaumont.  One of Betty Leaf's life-time interest and passion was that of gardening.  She served as past president of the Magnolia Garden Club of Beaumont and as past director of the Garden Club of America.  She was also a receipt of the Medal of Merit from the latter organization.  This collection consists primarily of publications and certificates related to the Magnolia Garden Club and the Garden Club of America with a few items pertaining to her two former husbands that span a time period from 1940 to 2016.
