About this collection

The Magnolia Garden Club was founded on March 3, 1937, in Beaumont, Texas.  The Club sought initially to foster interest in the area of home gardening and flower arrangement.  After a period of time, however, the Club became more actively involved in other pursuits that included nature conservation, civic improvement, and broader educational endeavors in the field of gardening and horticulture.  Then in 1949, the Club was invited and became a member of the national organization of the Garden Club of America.  The Magnolia Garden Club Records consists of scrapbooks of this organization from 1938 to 2004 that document the history and programs that it has sponsored and developed over time.
