About this collection

Wilber C. Gilbert, Jr., was a successful entrepreneur who ran several family-owned businesses devoted to the lumber, petroleum, ranching, and banking industries. He served as president of the Nona Mills lumber company as well as president of the Gilbert, and then Lyn Oil petroleum companies. He also served as vice president of the Lake Oil petroleum company. He then became director of the First National Bank that later was renamed the First Security National Bank. The photographs span a time period between the 1920s and 1990s. They depict both the business interests of the Gilbert family as well as specific members of the family and events that they were personally involved with during various times in their respective lives.
